Guests will have access to small, easy-to-handle motorboats for independent trips within the naturally sheltered waters of Golfito Bay.
Cross the bay for lunch. Visit Golfito. Stop for a swim. Explore the shoreline or simply head out for a quiet afternoon on the water.
No group. No fixed departure time.
No captain deciding when you have to return.

Freedom, Not Speed
Our boats are intentionally small and low-powered.
They are designed for slow, relaxed movement within Golfito Bay. Not for speed, open-water travel or long-distance excursions.
This makes them ideal for short local trips, spontaneous outings and unhurried exploration.
Seclusion Without Isolation
Tropical Fjord offers genuine privacy without leaving you disconnected from the surrounding area.
With access to a private motorboat, you can remain surrounded by rainforest while still reaching Golfito, waterfront restaurants and other nearby places around the bay on your own schedule.

This kind of independent motorboat access remains a rare option within a lodge stay in Costa Rica.
Our protected location inside Golfito Bay makes it possible to offer a level of freedom that would not be practical along most exposed sections of the Pacific coast.
Independent Exploration or a Guided Tour
Private motorboat access is intended as an additional option, not a replacement for our guided excursions.
Tropical Fjord will also offer guided boat tours led by experienced local operators.
These are the better choice when you want to travel beyond Golfito Bay, discover less familiar areas, learn more about the region or look for whales, dolphins and other wildlife.
Choose a guided tour when local knowledge and a planned experience matter.
Choose your private motorboat when you simply want to move freely around Golfito Bay and decide for yourself how to spend the day.
You can combine both during the same stay.
Included or Available at Cost
Private motorboat access is planned to be included with stays at the Hidden Bay Retreat.
Guests staying in our other accommodations will be able to use a boat for a planned contribution of approximately US$56 per day.
This is not intended as an expensive luxury upgrade.
The contribution is designed only to help cover fuel, insurance, maintenance and the eventual replacement of the boats and engines.
Fuel for normal use within Golfito Bay will be included.

Boat use will be limited strictly to a designated area within Golfito Bay.
Before departure, guests will receive a short personal briefing, a clearly marked navigation map and the necessary safety and communication equipment.
Availability will depend on suitable weather conditions and the guest’s ability to operate the boat responsibly.
All detailed conditions will be explained and agreed upon personally before the boat is handed over.
