Renewable Energy System
Low demand today. Greater independence tomorrow.

Low demand today.
Greater independence tomorrow.
Costa Rica already generates 98% of its electricity from renewable sources.
This allows TropicalFjord to operate with a very low energy footprint from the outset.

Our long-term goal goes further.
By the end of this decade, we aim to produce and store all electricity required on site, primarily through solar energy and battery storage.
We reduce energy demand through:

-
efficient appliances and lighting
-
natural ventilation and passive cooling
-
smart control of high-consumption equipment
-
low-impact operations and conscious resource use
-
gradual expansion of our own renewable energy system

Our focus is not simply to generate more energy, but to use less of it.
Energy independence is therefore part of a broader approach based on efficiency, resilience and responsible use of resources.
Drinkable Spring Water
Using local spring water, filtering it carefully and reducing the need for bottled water.

Our water comes from a natural spring in the unspoiled hills above Tropical Fjord. Two streams and two on-site cisterns support a reliable local water supply.
The water is carefully filtered before use. Each lodge also includes an additional EcoFiltro, giving guests convenient access to fresh drinking water while reducing the need for plastic bottles.
